点评：What a landscape, wild, dramatic, and quietly overwhelming.
Known as one of the world’s highest cold deserts at around 7,500 ft, it sits at the gateway to the Karakoram, where the terrain feels both vast and intimate at the same time.
What struck me most was the contrast. The desert is not the usual golden expanse. Instead, the sand appears almost white and silvery, stretching out in soft, rippling patterns. In the images, you can see how the Indus River weaves through the landscape, cutting gentle curves through the pale sand, almost like brushstrokes on a canvas.
The weather added its own mood. Heavy, low hanging clouds rolled across the sky, casting shadows over the rugged mountains. At moments, the peaks disappeared into mist and then re emerged, creating a constantly shifting, almost cinematic scene. The mountains feel imposing and protective at once, framing the desert below.
In the foreground, patches of green, trees and cultivated land, bring a softness to the otherwise stark terrain. That meeting of lush valley and stark desert is what makes this place feel so unique.
There is a stillness here. A kind of raw, untouched beauty that does not try too hard, it just is. Even without the golden sunlight the desert is known for, the atmosphere was deeply calming, almost meditative.
Sarfaranga offers more than just views. Quad biking, horse riding, camping, even stargazing. But honestly, just standing there and taking it all in felt enough.
