点评:This was on my list as a "if I have time" and glad I found the time. The young women at the front desk were as pleasant and out-going as could be and that was appreciated.
There was lots to do for children but there were enough exhibits for adults to enjoy to make the experience worth it.
Permanent exhibits include the "World of Water" geared towards sea creatures found in/near Alabama as well as exhibits featuring animals that have inhabited the state since forever--including some dinosaurs, sloths, sabre-toothed tigers, birds, &c and most have excellent video presentations accompanying with some even having some "hands on" displays.
I particularly enjoyed the special exhibit "Survival of the Slowest" featuring animals that rely on anything but speed for survival--sloths, porcupines, turtles/tortoises, some lizards, hedgehogs, &c. They were fascinating to watch as they made their way--slowly!--around their habitats OR were stretched comfortably on their tree limb.
I could easily see this as something to keep the kids occupied on a rainy day or just fun for a visit to keep adults occupied for a couple of hours.
