a fantastic find for natural history lovers
Beneski Museum Of Natural History的点评
点评：this is a great little museum on the campus of Amherst College. it's not very big but it is packed full of great stuff and really well organized. the staff there appeared to mostly be kids who (I assume) attended the college and were very eager to answer any questions.
the collection spans the literal ages from very early fossils up through the Ice Age and a display of hominid skulls. my daughter is homeschooled and we've been studying evolution so it was great to see so many of the things we've read about. there was also an entire room of large fossil trackways which was pretty cool.
most museums we have gone to have various resources online you can print out and bring with you to the museum. often it is geared towards school field trips but literally anyone who wants to can use them. what really impressed me about this museum is the age range they had print outs for. often it's for really young kids and is basically a scavenger hunt. this had stuff for young kids all the way up through college. i printed out more than we ended up being able to do on one trip.
the one down side for this museum is i dont think there was parking. there was definitely nothing obvious near by. since it's on a college campus there were small areas of parking here and there, a lot of it was labeled as reserved for various college type vehicles and the rest were all taken because school was back in session. we had to park in the south lot which was a 7-10 minute walk away. it's possible i missed something closer but it was not obvious.
this was a great museum. we drove from central MA to go to it so not sure when we'll be back but if we lived closer we'd definitely be regulars.

这个博物馆的一个缺点就是我觉得那里没有停车场。附近也明显找不到任何停车的地方。由于它位于大学校园内，所以各处有一些小块的停车区域。很多车位都标有“仅限各类大学用车使用”，剩下的车位则因为开学了全被占光了。我们只好把车停在南边的停车场，那里离入口有7到10分钟的步行距离。有可能有更近的车位我没注意到，但实在不太显眼。
这是一座很棒的博物馆。我们从马萨诸塞州中部开车过去参观的，暂时不确定什么时候能再去，不过要是住得近一些，我们肯定会经常来的。
