Cradle of Forestry的点评
点评：This is a great place to go hiking on beautiful shaded, paved, trails with frequent benches while at the same time learning about the history of Forestry in this country. Before George Vanderbilt imported a professional Forester from Germany named Dr. Carl Schenke no one in this country had any idea that forests could be managed as a resource. At this location, a small settlement called Pink Beds, Dr. Schenke taught a 1 1/2year long course in forestry to young men who wanted to become Forresters.
The Cradle of Forestry has historical buildings, a wonderful exhibit hall with movie, & 3 approximately 1 mile long trails.
There is a 1914 climax logging train whose bell kids can ring, a Blacksmith shop, Commisary, Ranger House, & school church classroom combo.
Most of the staff are volunteers and they can’t do enough to help visitors out.
The grounds are beautifully maintained. Also free Wi-Fi and a gift shop.
Regular admission is $12 but is half price with a national Park Pass
