点评:This church sits alone in a wide courtyard which allows perfect front views of the white neoclassic structure. The construction of this Roman Catholic church started in the 1850s and was finished in 1906. Inside the church the dome, decorated with paintings, gilding and decorative work, is the focal point above you. The walls are richly ornamented with mosaics, sculptures, marble and paintings.
We bought the combined ticket that gave access to the church hall, the treasury and the panoramic terrace from the sale point near the church. It was worth it. There are two elevators that provide access to the treasury and most of the way to the panoramic terrace. Even if you take the elevators to get to the dome you do need to take a final staircase. The alternative is the 364 steps on a spiral staircase. We took the elevators up and the spiral staircase down. At the top you can walk around the entirety of the dome for exhilarating 360 degree open-air views and a closer look at the towers. Even more interesting to me was the ability to view the internal architectural structure of the dome and arches. We saw the treasury of vestments, religious artifacts as well as replicas of the holy crown of Hungary and plaster casts of the basilica on the way back down. We visited just after 9 am. It wasn't overly crowded and it took us just over an hour to see it all.
