点评:Low review score is purely because we visited almost at closing time so very little for us to see, however sufficient to give a review.
We visited the Castle by taking the lift from the bus stop on the main road to the Hunyadi Courtyard where you can see the main dome of the Royal Palace. The buildings are really beautifully restored and you can just imagine them in their heyday.
The historic site, originally built in the 13th century, has been rebuilt in a blend of styles including Gothic and Baroque with the palace currently housing the Hungarian National Gallery and the Budapest History Museum both of which were closed when we arrived.
The first thing we met was Csikós statue, a bronze equestrian monument by György Vastagh depicting a horse herdsman taming a stallion. Positioned near the Royal Riding Hall it sets the scene for our very short 'external' visit.
A lot of reconstruction is going on and the Royal Riding Hall (Királyi Lovarda), a neo-Baroque building in the Buda Castle complex featuring a detailed stone façade and a dark metal entrance canopy was one of the first buildings completed.
The historical Archduke Joseph's Palace (József főhercegi palota) is currently being reconstructed within the Buda Castle District and the aim is to rebuild the palace as an authentic copy of the original residence.
Very quiet when we visited and with everything basically closed, we headed back down the lift to get a bus into town.
