点评:We stayed for a week in a National Trust Cottage on Brownsea Island. This meant that before the first boat arrived with day visitors, and after the last boat had left, we had the island almost to ourselves (staff and John Lewis vistors to the Castle excepting) It was peaceful, safe, and relaxing. A bit of logistics planning was required as there is no shop on the island and only a cafe which is open from about 1030 to 1645. However, as a holiday cottage visitor we were given passes to the Greenslade Ferry boat which travels nearly hourly between the Island and Poole Quay. So we popped across to have lunch and to top up supplies, whenever we wanted.
The hides are open all the time so we went in them "after hours" and saw Spoonbills, Oystercatchers, Egrets, Terns, Ducks. Also on the island we saw Red Squirrels (early in the morning), deer (at a distance) and Geese and a Peacock) A dream for Birwatchers and Wildlife Photographers (me).
We were very lucky with the weather, and spent some time sitting outside the cottage watching the boats of all types sailing by. My husband also fished and swam.
It was idyllic. All the NT staff and the boat staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
We loved it, so much so we are going again....
