点评:Kamil our driver was spot on time with pickup from the hotel and happily answered all manner of questions on the journey to and from the salt mines, even not related to the trip we were doing. Once at the Bochnia salt mines we were met by another group and introduced to ouor mine guide Mirek. He translated for the lady who was the official underground guide. He was very helpful throught the 4 hours or more we were underground and even took photos of the whole group at various points during the tour and kindly Whatsapped them to everyone as soon as we had finished. What a great idea and such good service.
The tour itself goes way underground and you do need quite a good stamina level as there is a lot of walking, some steps up and down, a little train ride and a short boat ride. This is not perhaps the "pretty" salt mine (think that's the Wielicza one) but this focusses more on the history of salt mining and Poland generally and has some great interactive videos of characters who have been involved in salt production over many centuries. There are a lot of little chapels constructed with fanatstic carvings in salt made by the miners and stories of their daily lives. If you wish you can even spend the night down there. We had lunch underground and saw the tools used. Would recommend the zurek soup. An excellent day out and Mirek and Kamil are both to be very highly recommended for their kindness, good humour, courtesy and general helpfulness throughout.
