Informative and helpful tour of the WW1 battlefields and memorials around Ypres with a Canadian perspective

点评：Mike picked us up at our hotel and there we discussed and agreed upon a tour that would satisfy our desire to learn more of the Ypres Salient of the 1914-18 battles. We are a group of 6 Canadians in our late 60s cycling along the Western Front from Amiens to Bruge. We have visited many memorial sites along the way, but most of our learning was ad hoc. This 4 hour session with Mike allowed us to have a local expert explain not only the history of the battles but also its effects on the local population, effects which persist today.
In Canada “Lest we forget “ is a well known phrase, but mostly restricted to the weeks around November 11th. Here the remembrance is an ongoing lived experience. Mike helped us understand that. It has been an honour to have payed homage. Thanks Mike!
