The Beach, Longbridge Deverill的点评
点评：What an absolute triumph of coastal engineering.
For those unfamiliar, Longbridge Deverill Beach is a unique community attraction where visitors bring back sand from beaches they’ve visited on holiday and add it to the ever-growing collection. Over the years, grains from all over the world have combined to create what may be Wiltshire’s only beach with a more international pedigree than most airports.
Where else can you stand in a village by the River Wylye and technically have your feet in sand from Spain, Cornwall, Greece, Devon, Florida, and possibly a suspiciously large contribution from someone’s cat litter tray?
The sea is currently undergoing extensive redevelopment and remains unavailable, but the atmosphere is wonderful. Children love it, adults love explaining it to confused visitors, and newcomers spend several minutes trying to work out whether everyone is joking.
Highlights include:
* No sharks.
* No jellyfish.
* No risk of sunburn nine months of the year.
* Easy parking.
* The shortest walk from pub to beach in Wiltshire.
A remarkable example of what can be achieved when a community collectively decides, “You know what this roadside needs? More beach.”
Five stars. Would happily contribute another bucket of sand from my next holiday. 🏖️😄🌍
