My child was skiing as part of a school-organized ski program on Friday when he was injured and had to leave the mountain. In the chaos of the situation, his skis and ski bag were left behind. We called the mountain early the next morning simply asking for help locating the equipment.
Instead of assistance, we were met with resistance. Staff refused to look for the skis, and the situation escalated to the point where the manager, Wendy, called us and told us to stop calling. There was no empathy, no concern for an injured child, and no sense of responsibility.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Last year, another student from a school ski trip was injured at this same mountain, and their skis were never returned.
It is truly disappointing that a family-oriented ski mountain would handle situations involving injured children with such indifference. A manager should demonstrate empathy, leadership, and accountability—none of which were shown here.
I would not recommend Catamount, especially for school groups or families. Accidents happen, but how a business responds says everything.
