Fascinating Butterfly Farm

点评：I had trouble finding open if this place was still open, in March 2022. Finally, I found out that it is, but only by appointment. (I found out by showing up there, and finding a note on the door saying you had to make an appointment, with a phone number).
So I made an appointment, and returned the next day. This is a fascinating place. I thought it was just going to be an enclosure with a bunch of butterflies flitting around, but it is a working butterfly farm where they grow the cocoons (chrysalises) for export to 5 different countries. They take you on a tour through the whole process, from egg laying, to larvae, to caterpillars, to cocoons, to butterflies. They export most cocoons, but keep a number to produce more butterflies for continued breeding. There are 15 types of butterflies raised here.
The tour takes about 90 minutes. They also breed turtles, so they will show you the turtles as well.
I got there by taking the local bus to the Lelydorp bus station, followed by a 30 minute walk (although you could take a taxi from the bus station for very little money).
