点评:Living near to cannon hall farm, this is one of many visits, but the first review I’ve written. Firstly, admission price for 2 adults and 3 children is good value for money in the summer holidays, with kids going half price. When in the farm all activities are included, so no added extras, with the bouncing pillows being new this year. The children aged 8, 5 and 3 were all able to enjoy them as there are two age group options, to keep the younger ones safe. Some older kids did get into the younger area and there were a couple of adults bouncing around and knocking toddlers off their feet, as no one was ‘policing it’ but that should be the responsibility of visiting adults. It was quite busy (Wednesday), but we got round easily, and didn’t queue long for the tractor ride, which we all enjoyed. The kids headed straight for the adventure playground when we got there, which is incredible, one of the best playgrounds I’ve ever seen, again catering for all ages of children. What is especially impressive are the number of slides going down different levels, which the kids love! We always love the sheep racing and ferret racing which is held throughout the day, and so well run by the staff, always great run. The kids love watching the sheep and shouting for their colour sheep to win.
There are plenty of picnic tables near the entrance, so you can pack your own lunch, but lots of food, snacks, drinks, ice creams are also available at the farm. Once you’ve got your hand stamped you can leave and come back in. (Tip off to the farm - in the afternoon, quite a few people were coming in through the exit gate, as we were going out, saying ‘we have paid’, but they had no stamps and clearly were just chancing it. Happened when we went for lunch and when we left at 3.30, so I would get someone on that gate!)
There is a good soft play area inside, which is great if it’s a bit cooler outside, but we didn’t go in this time. The kids love the maze of tunnels and ‘pop up’ just like the prairie dogs next to them, which my 3 year old granddaughter loves!
Obviously the farm animals are the highlight and they are well looked after and safe from the crowds, in their own environments.
Overall, a great experience. No long queues, well managed and reasonable value for money in the summer holidays. My tip is to pay for parking with the admission to save queuing and pack a picnic to save money on food, which can add a lot to the cost. We got there at 10 and left at 3.30, and we could still have done more.
