点评:We decided to take on this challenging and strenuous hike even though I knew it was going to be more of challenging and strenuous than I’m used to or care to enjoy. The trailhead is in quite a remote area of the Canyonlands Needle area which is breathtaking and although remote, very popular amongst all age groups and level of hikers.
Be sure to bring a lot of waters d protein snacks, hiking poles, etc.
The first trek of this trail is straight up Elephant Hill as you climb and traverse large boulder steps carefully placing each foot as you go. Take your time and you can do it as we did at ages 63 and 68 and consider ourselves average hikers. Once you reach the top of this first climb, take a deep breath and drink some water then hike on following the carins that mark the trail. There are plenty of people on this trail to follow as well which helps further with navigating. The trail has several flat spots
But also a lot of ascents and descents. We turned around about 1 mile from the end of the trail as it was getting harder and harder for us to navigate.
