Lovely old theatre, but the gallery may not be for the faint-hearted.

点评：My first thoughts were that this is a beautiful old building with a lot of history. Though this, my first show here (with two visits) turned out to be a game of two halves. I had a ticket for The High Life (great show BTW). A brill seat, front stalls but unfortuantely it was on the Wednesday they cancelled with very little notice, and even less info as to the reason for the cancellation...
That said, I learned later that this was due to a member of the shows production team, some kind of emergency. And so I don't feel I can blame, or hold it against the theatre itself, and I'd have no problem booking there again. As in fact I did.
So, knowing I'd be reimbursed, and finding out the next nights show wasn't sold out I bought a ticket for the Thursday. Due this late booking however, my seat, one of the last left, was way up in the god's, what they call the gallery.
This's were it could become hairy for some people, though it didn't effect me, too much. The gallery is right at the top, and there's no lift, so people with mobility problems may have difficulty.
And not just the stairs to the auditorium, the stairs inside once there presented problems of their own. They're pretty steep, and the steps themselves are not uniform, some being much higher than others. Also, the place being old, spaces between rows were very narrow, and the seats being on such a steep angle, going the potty, bar, at intermission could be quite nerve wracking... I certainly wouldn't recommend the gallery for anyone with virtigo, that's for sure.
Problems with the cancellation aside, it is a lovely old theatre, and that slip wouldn't stop me going again in the future. But pick your sea carefully :)

撇开取消演出这件事不谈，这真是一座美丽的古老剧院，这点小插曲并不会阻止我以后再次光顾。不过，选择剧院时一定要谨慎哦 :)
