We used Walter for transfers and excursions during our trip in Costa Rica. He was communicative, punctual, and a very good driver. His vans were clean, and overall the transport side of the experience was comfortable and reliable.
However, the main issue we encountered was with pricing. We confirmed rates in advance, but once we arrived, prices were increased by about 30%, with various explanations given. This made things feel uncertain and difficult to plan.
We also noticed that excursions arranged through him came with a noticeable markup compared to booking directly. For example, activities that were around $45 per person were offered at significantly higher rates.
At the end of the trip, we had also agreed on a $75 airport transfer, but upon arrival, the price was raised by $10. We declined to pay the additional amount, and to his credit, he handled it politely—but it was still disappointing given the prior agreement and the amount we had already spent on transfers and excursions.
Overall, Walter is reliable in terms of driving and logistics, but I would strongly recommend confirming all prices very clearly in writing ahead of time and reconfirming them throughout your trip.
