I have a deep passion for tourism, and for the past four years I have worked as a local city tour guide and safari guide. I entered this profession driven purely by passion, without any formal education or academic background in tourism.
In January this year, I joined Great Native Safaris Training mainly to obtain certification and official membership as a recognized Rwanda safari guide.
On the very first day, our instructor, Anaclet, told us: “Forget who you were; I am going to make you Field Guides.”
At the time, I did not fully understand what he meant—I already considered myself a tour guide.
After only a few weeks of training, my perspective has completely changed. I now realize how much more there is to learn and how limited my understanding was before. This training has gone far beyond my expectations. I no longer attend classes just to earn a certificate; I am now driven by a genuine desire for knowledge, professionalism, and mastery of the field.
Anaclet is an exceptional instructor with extraordinary depth of knowledge in the flora and fauna of Africa. He clearly demonstrates what it truly means to be a Field Guide, not just in theory, but in practice, ethics, and mindset. Every class is engaging, insightful, and intense in the best way possible. Time seems to pass quickly because of the value we receive in each session.
Great Native Safaris Training has reshaped my understanding of guiding and elevated my ambitions within the tourism industry. This program is not just training guides it is building professionals. I am grateful for the transformation, and I highly recommend this training to anyone who truly wants to grow in Field Tour guiding and tourism in General.
