点评:Ishinomaki was the city worst hit by the Tsunami in 2011, but don't make the mistake of thinking this is 'disaster tourism', it definitely is not. There is no hint of self-pity here, just an acknowledgement of the force of nature and the bravery and determination of the residents of the city. The museum has a couple of AV presentations which are superbly put together and tells you everything about the event, and the museum is situated on what is now a huge park, but used to be a residential part of the city, and which has not been rebuilt. You should also visit the ruined primary school at the top of the park, left as it was when it was abandoned. Altogether a fascinating and moving experience which you must to if touring the north of Honshu. There is a Manga museum in the shape of a flying saucer elsewhere on the waterfront to lighten the mood if you need to.
