A Vulcan bomber fans dream.
Solway Aviation Museum的点评
点评：We have two sons, one of which is an aviation fanatic who has always loved aeroplanes and military jets. He has had a fascination with the Vulcan bomber and has many models of them, so this was a must visit for our family while we visited Carlisle for the weekend. The Solway Aviation Museum is an absolute pleasure to visit, there is very friendly people who will do their best to help and also they are very knowledgeable about the planes they have on display. On arrival I paid for a family ticket which was £20. This in my opinion was an absolute bargain. Included in the price was a visit inside the Vulcan bomber with a tour of the legendary aircraft. I must confess I have seen a Vulcan bomber in flight during Air shows in Scotland a few years ago, and I have seen the one at East Fortune, the latter is in poor condition compared to the one here at the Solway Museum. It looks like it could go across the runway and take off at any moment, such is the care the Museum takes of their exhibits. Now, if you have mobility issues then I'm afraid that you will struggle to get into the Vulcan as there is ladders to climb in and out, and space is limited inside. You should get the feeling of how brave the pilots and crew were flying these massive jets, it was an absolute pleasure to see how they worked, and see how they kept their soup warm while flying their missions, I felt honoured and it made my boys day to be inside it.
The other exhibits are also very well kept despite being outside, you can go into a few of them as well making your visit interactive with the exhibits. Our sons thoroughly enjoyed this. There is also plenty to see inside the buildings with several displays and a conference room playing videos about WW2 etc, the other building has more to see including gyrocopters and a Vampire aircraft. There currently is an area fenced off where they are trying to rebuild the last remaining Blackburn Beverly.
If you are a gift enthusiast then there is a wonderful gift shop which stocks the usual souvenirs and also quite a good selection of models. It was a wonderful visit and I will definitely return, it is amazing value for money.

如果你喜欢挑选礼物，那里有一家很棒的礼品店，不仅出售各类纪念品，还有相当多种类的模型可供选择。这次参观体验极佳，我一定会再来的，这里绝对物超所值。
