点评:This area is described as a “ghost town” since the buildings have been abandoned, however the NPS has taken over them and is working on keeping them preserved.
There is a vault toilet outside…don’t use it, they also have indoor bathrooms with real plumbing in the visitor center.
There is an 11:00 free walking tour guided by park rangers which gives good information. I didn’t care for the history as much as the views, but it was good information. The tour took about 45 mins.
This area is not very accessible as much if it is rocks or gravel. So if you aren’t very steady, or have a motorized wheelchair this is probably not an area for you to see.
On the way in there was a dip that almost tore off the front of my car…so drive carefully anywhere there is gravel. The roads were narrow to the point you may have to stop and take turns in order to pass others.
On the way in there was a pullout that leads you to dunloop falls. This are was absolutely breathtaking and by itself made this drive/tour worth it. The falls can be found at (37.9383164, -81.0979488).
