Good for fossil site, not so much for discovery center
Hands On! Discovery Center at Gray Fossil Site的点评
点评:We’re a science-loving family and have been to many science museums and centers, and the Hands On! Discovery Center at the Gray Fossil Site was the most disappointing one we’ve visited. It’s hard to know whether to separate the Gray Fossil Site from this review, but if speaking of the Discovery Center alone, it was 2 stars at best. The majority of the hands-on stations in the discovery hall were not functioning, missing parts, or had no signage to tell patrons how to use them. This was true for both the main center/museum and the extended portion in an adjacent building. For the exhibits that were complete, they were similar to what you’d find elsewhere. Our child most enjoyed the topo table and the climbing tower. The $2 per person cost for the Tesla coil show wasn’t unreasonable, but for $11 admission, including for children, one show could easily be included. The Gray Fossil Site part was much better (4 stars), and the $2 paleo tour was definitely worth it to learn more about the research being done there. That portion of the center was better but relatively small, and not always child-friendly with mostly text-based signage. We, the adults, enjoyed and read every part of it, however.
