点评:This is a great visit when in the Grand Canyon area, and while, for me, it is more associated with Page, AZ only 39 miles away, it is technically in Grand Canyon National Park even though it is exactly 100 miles away from the East Rim park. Here the Colorado River lies within the more narrow but more vertical Glenn Canyon. It also has beautiful "red rock" backdrops provided by Vermillion Cliffs National Monument.
On the road that will take you to the North Rim, the Navajo Bridge takes you over the Colorado River with one bridge designated for vehicles and a second for pedestrians. Here you can park and safely walk over the Colorado River and Glen Canyon to enjoy the scenery that is great for pictures. For me, this is an essential Grand Canyon area attraction because it is one of the few places you can cross the Colorado with unobstructed views for pictures.
We visited this past Spring with 7 couples as we toured Grand Canyon NP and Northern Arizona. It is a perfect stop if you are travelling from the Grand Canyon to Page as you will drive right by it. While here you can also visit Vermillion Cliffs National Monument and Lee's Ferry where you can actually walk down to the water's edge and touch the Colorado River. This place is made for pictures the scenery as much as the bridges themselves. It is a really cool picture to walk to the west end and get a picture between these two symmetrical bridges. Another reason to visit is the bridges have become recent nesting places for the California Condors who have recently returned to the area as a part of reintroduction program and spreading of the species. We were able see a couple of Condors on our visit, amazing birds.
I think this is a great activity if you are anywhere in the Grand Canyon area. However, if you are travelling between Flagstaff and Page, I strongly recommend you make it a priority to stop and experience the Canyon here. It is one of the view places you can cross the Colorado River.
