点评:The naval museums are well worth seeing as part of a visit to the Portsmouth naval dockyard. It's fantastic to see these historic ships, all three from different eras. The youngest is HMS Warrior, the first ironclad ship, built with steam and sail propulsion. Then the historic HMS Victory, well known as Nelson's flagship during the Battle of Trafalgar. This ship is undergoing quite a bit of conservation, but it doesn't detract from the experience other than not being able to see her so well from the outside. But what you get instead is of you into how she's built. The Mary Rose is a fortunate for us accident. Sunk in 1545 and recovered in 1982, she provides a window into life on a sailing ship of that era.
Then there are tours of the harbor, and don't forget the submarine museum across the water.
I spent a week in Portsmouth and visited a different exhibit every day. I can't imagine trying to see all this in one day.
Highly recommended if you are interested in history, naval or otherwise.
