点评:This is a great experience if you're a fan of the Adams family. I'll focus my review on providing helpful advice and information about what's there and what you do.
First, check the National Park Service website for notifications about what's open and what's closed. We went on the Friday after Labor Day weekend, and they had already closed the two birthplace houses for renovation, and they wouldn't be reopened until the following summer. So, that was very disappointing. We had no idea they would be closed, but I'm sure they posted that on the website in the days before closing.
You park in a parking garage near the Visitor Center, and the park rangers validate your parking ticket to get you free parking. First, when you get to the Visitor Center buy your tour tickets. There is a very small exhibit area with a timeline, and that's about it in terms of exhibits (five minutes max). If you have time before your tour, watch the video with a history of all the Adams family members that lived in the houses. It's a good video.
Then you get on the tour bus outside the Visitor Center, and it first takes you to the Adams birthplace houses, where John Adams and John Quincy Adams were born. For us they were closed, so we only got to see the exterior for a few minutes. But normally they have either self-guided tours of the interior of the houses or ranger guided tours at certain times of the day, which I assume would be better.
Then you get back on the bus and it takes you to Peacefield, the house that the Adams moved into after the Revolutionary War. A ranger gives you a tour of that house. And then you go next door to the Stone Library, which was a library (made of stone to avoid fires) that Charles Francis Adams (John Quincy Adams' son) built to hold his father and grandfather's book collections. It's pretty interesting and impressive.
Then you get back on the bus, which takes you back to the Visitor Center.
