Dont get scammed when traveling to Egypt

点评：Overpriced and uncertain on the quality of the oils. I managed to get a deal of buy 4 get the 5th free (of the 100ml bottles; 60.00 USD each), however, I think it is possible to have gotten it cheaper. Once I brought the products home I realized that it was unclear if the quality of the oils were good. I was told before coming to Egypt that the sales people in this country tend to lie and scam, but deep down I wanted to believe I was getting a good deal and that what the sales rep stated was true. Some of the scents I bought do cost more if I were to buy them online in the US, while others (sweet almond oil was about 4x the price here than if I bought it online in the US), however, the oils I received and the scents I tried at the store seemed different. Of the 5 I received, only 1 was the scent similar to what I had tried in the store.
My only advice would be to not buy from any of the shops (if possible) that the tour guides take you too (as we went to others as well), or to at least bargain hard. I asked our tour guide if they were to look for oil (as Egyptians) if they'd go to places like this and they couldn't give me a straight answer. I found out later that the tour guides get kickbacks from the stores they take you to. We were recommended our tour guide by an acquaintance and even then, they did not have our back because it was a private tour (with a private car) and if we wanted to take go anywhere they would have taken us, in other words, they could have taken us to a legit store where they as Egyptians would shop at, not a tourist trap.
