Overlord-Neptune Tours的点评
点评：DH & I took the Overlord 2-day Tour #6 Neptune. This review is of our day #2 British/Canadian sectors. We booked a group tour, but there were no other clients that day. Our guide was Antoine. The tour was a mixed bag. Positives: Antoine’s knowledge of the D-Day landing events is encyclopedic. He speaks English as if it were his 1st language. He added details that likely won’t be covered elsewhere. There were no questions he could not answer. Negatives: I ended up feeling like a mark. Unlike day 1 (where our guides dropped us off in an area with several restaurant options, gave a few recommendations, and left us to ourselves), Antoine made a lunch reservation (without our request or consent), at a restaurant of his choosing (that exceeded our price point comfort level), included himself in the lunch (we strongly would have preferred to be left alone for lunch), and then left the restaurant right before the bill came. He gave us no choice but to pay for his lunch tab. This seemed highly unprofessional, left us feeling set up and imposed upon, and soured our opinion of him and the tour. In addition, while he was mostly amicable, from time-to-time he got prickly. E.g., at lunch, he regaled us with an anecdote about how, on another group tour, when a woman asked for water, he provided water to the other clients but refused to provide water to her because she did not say “please.” With 20:20 hindsight, I would skip the British/Canadian tour, and seek out Jean or Lucas for the American sector tour.
