Great experience, need to focus on accommodation needs
Rail Explorers: Amador CA Division的点评
点评：This was the 2nd time we've done a similar experience, and the first time was so much fun we brought 4 other family members! The Amador Rail Explorers was great. The views were fantastic (even better than the one that we did before). Can't recommend it enough!
The only recommendation I have is for more instruction for (and interest in) those who may need accommodation. At the turnaround point there are 10 steps (in the hillside) to walk up with no hand rails and no options for the 20 minute stop other than to walk up those steps or stand right by the bikes (because they turned the bikes around, staying on them was not an option) . Then, there's a long walk on uneven ground after the break to get back to the bikes. It was a challenge for my mother, and no interest was shown in her situation.
We parked in the handicapped spot for my 87 year old mother, which could have been a signal to the staff to notify of us of what to expect. However, no one noticed or talked about what would be required at the turnaround point. We could have been prepared or talked with them about accommodation if they had mentioned it. When the rider doesn't know what to expect, there's not much we can do. Since there were others of us with her we were able to hold and guide her, however it was very tiring and stressful for her. Hoping to share our experience so that the employees are alerted to those who need accommodation, and so that other riders will benefit and be able to go on and enjoy this FANTASTIC experience!!!
