Brilliant gym, cringeworthy clientele

点评：I struggled writing this review. On the one hand the gym and associated facilities are amazing. Absolutely world class. Everything is clean, new and works perfectly. The service is good and there’s not a frayed wire or cracked bench seat to be seen. But you pay handsomely for it. A one week membership is currently IDR1,900,000 (about AU$188) which severely limits it those who are able to afford it. If my assessment was based on the quality of the gym and other amenities it would get five stars, despite the ridiculous cost. But the reality is a gym is more than the sum of its parts. It’s also about the “feel” of the place. And this place is cringey. The clientele are the young, beautiful, fit and seemingly rich westerners who currently inhabit Canggu in their droves. I overheard conversations about YouTube channels and influencer methodology a couple of times, and I suspect the majority are living in Bali and working in the “influencer” game or other “online” work. So, the density of pretense, Botox duck lips and sheer wankery at this place is approaching that of a neutron star (that’s a lot). In the final wash up I can’t recommend this place because it’s just not a good fit for me, but it might be for you. I suggest you strap on your duck lips and give it a one day trial before signing up for anything longer.
