点评：15 years ago, we were so tired on a Nile cruise and decided to skip the Abu Simbel tour at 3 am. I have been regretting my mistake for 15 years and made a second trip to pay for it. The temple was more grandeur than I saw on the pictures. The trip to the temple was much longer than I imagined and took me 3 hours from Aswan. I would highly suggest anyone not to join a 3/4 am tour group because you will be pulled into a large crowd from cruise boats which need their guests to return before 3 pm to sail on to the next destination. Just hire a car by yourself which costs less than $200. There is really no need for any tour guide because everything is on Google. And, tour guide is NOT allowed in the temple any way. You can enjoy a comfortable breakfast and leave for the temples around 10 am. When you arrive at 1 pm, you will find much smaller crowds and no need to fight for photo spots. Instead of tour group’s 1.5 hour stay, you can stay as long as you want to have serene view of the temples and the lake in front of them. Finally, don’t forget to watch the video in the visitor center or on YouTube beforehand. You can appreciate the past efforts to protect this temple from being underwater.
