点评:Alexandria's Old Town is a nationally designated historic district founded in 1749. We spent the whole day here, traveling between Richmond and Washington. We had to hurry because there was so much to see! First we visited Carlyle House - the city's oldest stone house, a Georgian mansion built in 1753 by merchant and City founder John Carlyle. Then we visited Gadsby's Tavern Museum, which hosted the first five U.S. presidents.
After completing the historical educational program, we allowed ourselves to relax and unwind a little. The walk along the Potomac River promenade was refreshing. We loved the public art installation in the waterfront park and also noticed how many different restaurants the area offers. And of course, this city is famous for its variety of shops and boutiques where you can buy everything you need and what's fashionable.
Take a walk along nationally renowned King Street Mile and see why it's been recognized as one of the "Great Shopping Streets" of America.
We noticed that there are many French restaurants and cafes in the city. We drank coffee in one of them and enjoyed its beautiful interior (see photo below).
