Brace yourself for a massive construction site. The scale of redevelopment here is colossal. As of May 2026, almost nothing is complete with explanations that stalled projects result from Russia’s war in Ukraine deterring clients from those formerly significant markets to legal wrangles and construction disputes and delays. The beach front boulevard is a diabolical mess of empty concrete shells, rebar, construction waste, unpacked shop fittings, air conditioning units, scaffolding, insulation material, electrical and plumbing junk and demolished old beach front structures. There are almost no people including very few signs of ongoing construction activity. Local business owners are depressed and struggling. At best it looks like a once proud massive project gone horribly wrong. It could take years to get this place up to a standard where anyone would be comfortable staying here.
