点评：It had been years since we drove this road and we enjoyed it just as much. It follows the old railroad grade through a wooded canyon with beautiful rock formations, tumbling rivers, and two hand-cut tunnels only big enough for the old narrow gauge railroad cars to ease through. The road was well maintained for a dirt road, but could be intimidating for someone unfamiliar with mountain roads Very narrow in places, so caution is necessary to avoid wandering too close to drop-offs and suddenly meeting a vehicle coming your way around a blind corner. Passenger cars can travel it, but anything over 25 feet long is prohibited for good reason. Start from either Cañon City or Victor with a full tank, drinks and snacks; there are a couple of bathroom facilities along the way and a number of pull-offs to enjoy the wildness of the area and speculate what it would have been like in the early mining days. Oh, and for the driver to unclench the steering wheel and work out tight muscles. Spend a couple of hours following this trail back into the late 1800s and what the locals call the real Colorado.
