点评:The most extraordinary historical property I've seen in a long time, featuring a wealth of the quotidian items which are often missing from country mansions . The staggered entry meant that we felt like urban-explorers, entering a long-abandoned home. The volunteers on the day we visited were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, giving lots of extra information and making sure we didn't miss any details, but also giving us space to investigate and enjoy the property. The house is particularly incredible because of how non-curated it feels. This is very much a house decorated in the early twenties, but we can see evidence that it has been lived in. We noticed little bottles of quick-drying ink from the sixties, a calendar from the late eighties and a newspaper with a headline related to the miner's strike in amongst the Victorian ephemera.
Just wonderful, and I'm so glad we made the trip.
