Alta offers the most affordable way to start skiing

点评：When it snows, its rough getting in and out of Alta and you are required to have a 4x4 or AWD vehicle with good tires, but they offer several FREE BEGINNER LIFTS!
Make sure you go online at least a few days before and make a parking reservation or you cant park Fri thru Sun and holidays (Not required Mon thru Thur or after 2:00 on weekends).
Go online and reserve a $49 sport package ski rental from the Albion rental shop in advance (recommended). It includes a helmet.
Head over to the Snowpine lodge lift with your instructor, or expert uncle (recommended, but not required), and learn how to use skis and ski lifts!
When youre ready, Alta also offers a "beginner" lift day pass. It costs less than half the price of an all area day pass. Now you'll have access to their 6-seat, high speed, detachable Sunnyside chair lift. Its a mile long and provides access for skiers to explore miles of somewhat more challenging, well groomed, beginner terrain!
I took my 64 year old brother yesterday. He went skiing a couple of times as a teenager, but that doesnt count in my book. We started over from the beginning. We went mid-week, so we didnt need a parking reservation. It was a sunny day and in about an hour, he was ready to get a "beginner" ticket and go up the Sunnyside lift!
We started the day riding FREE SKI LIFTS! Just get on and go!
After that, practice, practice, practice! Take lessons if you can.
Historic Alta is the best place anywhere to begin skiing! They have always provided free lifts and an affordable way to get started.
BTW, Historic Alta is inspiringly beautiful and has the best snow on the planet. Snow conditions really matter, especially on your first day. Soft snow is good!
