Water, Wood & Stone – Two Magical Tours of the Scottish Highlands with Grant Driving Tours Scotland

点评：We were taken on two stunning tours by the legendary Bill Grant, storyteller extraordinaire – one all around magical Loch Ness and the other on a quest to follow in the footsteps of the Picts.
The weather was a massive mix of torrential rain and hill mist, but Bill kept us supremely comfortable, with a beautifully warm vehicle, enormous umbrellas to borrow, and wonderful little coffee shops to stop at. And when the sun did break through, Bill seemed to have the knack of being at places with the most breathtaking views, for us to have a wander and to take in the wonderful Scottish air.
We experienced Fort Augustus, Urquhart Castle and a beautiful and unexpected Summer House in the woods on our first day, and the Seaboard Villages, Tor Ness Lighthouse and Dunrobin Castle on our second day - interspersed with deer, a clog shop, a mermaid and a Pictish Queen, to name but a few additional treats.
And Bill’s storytelling to wrap around everything… Every landmark, house, hill, monument (and the occasional tree) on our trips had a story as Bill uncovered the history, cultures and traditions that have combined to make Scotland the magical place that it is. As each day came to an end it was impossible to believe that we had been to so many places and done so much.
I cannot recommend Bill’s tours of Scotland too highly. Bill is courtesy itself, a wonderful host and a fascinating storyteller, with a knowledge of his native Scotland that is as passionate as it is deep.
With huge thanks to Bill for being such a wonderful guide, and I’m already choosing which tour to go on next…
