Really excellent workshop and museum and great way to spend an afternoon!

点评:We attended the chocolate workshop as a group of seven and it far exceeded our expectations!! The workshop includes access to the chocolate museum, which is super cool. It has an interactive component where you can select your language and listen to narration about the history of chocolate through time and across the globe. We had little kids with us so we couldn’t devote as much time as we wanted to reading the information and looking at the artefacts, but even just looking around and listening to the narration was fun. The end of the tour takes you to the workshop entrance, and the workshop itself was PERFECT for our group (ages ranging from 5-75). The chocolatier and his assistants gave us a brief introduction to the museum owners and their local cocoa bean plantation. Then they gave a simple explanation of how cocoa beans are turned into chocolate (and we got to smell the beans at each phase of their transition from bean to chocolate). Then we all got to make our own chocolate bars. Unlike other workshops I’ve done where you’re crushing the cocoa beans and doing the whole process, this workshop was more suited to families. Everyone made 6-8 big chocolates and we got to be super creative with our designs. They also had pre-drawn designs we could trace to keep it simple. The staff was so pleasant and helpful, and they handled our family’s chaos with ease and charm. They even made two special Mickey Mouse chocolate lollipops for our little kids as a cute gift as we finished. I purchased a couple things from the shop at the end and they kindly gave me a discount as a thank you. It was just a really fun way to spend an afternoon in Playa Del Carmen and I absolutely will go back and do it again next time we are here!!!
