It's thought to be the world's largest solid granite monument, is 81 feet tall, and it's on the National Register of Historic Places. A 36-foot figure of 'Faith' stands atop the monument.
The text says: ‘National Monument to the Forefathers, erected by a grateful people in remembrance of their labors, sacrifices, and sufferings, for the cause of civil and religious liberty’.
We were impressed with the size of this monument and that it was solid granite. A group photo was taken here. Free parking is available on the site, which is open from dawn to dusk, April through November. There is no admission fee. Dogs on a leash are permitted.
