Teremok traditionally translates from Russian as "high little house", although this interpretation is slightly imprecise
Teremok Historical and Architectural Complex的点评
点评:Anyway, I was in Flyonovo in mid-September. Alone.
That Teremok is a log house sitting on a brick foundation and evidently modelled after the eponymous Russian folk tale. Before it was plundered and mangled in the 20th century, its owner Princess Maria Tenisheva had first set up a library there, then an embroidery workshop, and finally an exhibition of works of local craftsmen and her acquaintances.
I visited the complex when Teremok at last opened its doors after a long and thorough overhaul. Some of the old exhibits had miraculously survived, the restored interiors had an authentic feel, but it was obvious that the spirit of the place was lost irretrievably.
It doesn't mean the attraction is dull or not worth visiting. On the contrary, I'd highly recommend to make a detour there, especially to foreign travellers. They will immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a good old Russian manor.
