点评:Our family really enjoyed our time with Alex on a recent stargazing tour. We could tell he was really passionate about the cosmo and the history of the land and people of this region. He is full of information and a great storyteller. Our group ranged from 8 years old to people in their 80s with different astronomy backgrounds and Alex was able to keep it engaging and entertaining for everyone. My 8 year old is now planning his science fair project from something that he learned from Alex!
It's important to be flexible as weather doesn't always cooperate. We thought we had the perfect plan since it was new moon but it turned out to be cloudy and windy on most of the nights we were in Moab. Alex tried his best to reschedule us for the better forecasted days and he chose a spot that was shielded from the winds. There were still some clouds on the night we went but he shuffled his plans aroundto show us things that were not covered. We saw star clusters, nebulas, and planets on his telescope but the highlight was seeing Jupiter and its moons high resolution. He was patient and gave everyone time to adjust their eyes on the telescope to made sure everyone saw each object. He encouraged questions and comments so it was engaging.
I would definitely do this again next time if I had even more time in Southern Utah.
