Baroque castle and garden at Old Town in Weikersheim

点评：Weikersheim Castle is the highlight attraction of visits to the Old Town of Weikersheim. It is open from 9am to 6pm daily, closed on Mondays. Visits inside the castle are by guided tour only and the vast majority are in German unless organised with the castle in advance.
Entry fee for guided tours include access to the Castle Gardens. You can also enter the Castle Gardens only (€5) which is what we did on the day. This is a 18th-century French style garden influenced by Versailles. It is around 170 metres long, 100 metres wide and features a grand statue fountain of Hercules beautifully positioned in the centre of the garden with the palace in the background, makes for very nice photos.
You'll find long walkways, tree lined paths lined with interesting sculptures, nicely manicured hedges, rose gardens, arcade lined Orangery and generally quiet and tranquil environs to walk and enjoy leisurely if time allows.
We enjoyed our time browsing the Castle Garden and spent around 45 minutes here, finding it generally worth the entry cost if you plan to stop over at Weikersheim as part of Old Town visits along the Romantic Route.
