Why the heck should we place English signage in a Russian non-tourist city tens of thousands of miles away from abroad?
Chukotka Okrug Museum of Local Lore的点评
点评:Sometimes I feel discombobulated over such sentiments, really:) Moreover, it's a cinch to find a good English-speaking guide in Anadyr.
Regarding the museum, I had a good time there. The collection is rich, expertly put together, and well presented. To some extent it's even unique. At least, some of the exhibits can hardly be found anywhere else. A downside is air-conditioning, however; it was pretty stuffy inside (minus one point!).
Recommended. Be ready to spend about an hour there and don't miss their lovely souvenir shop.
(In Russia, okrug is a type of, let me say, subprime administrative entity which is slightly less significant than a region which part it usually is. Chukotka is just the okrug, although in this case it represents a so-called subject of the federation, i.e., is ruled by a governor directly appointed by Moscow.)
