1066 Country Walk的点评
点评：We tried to walk today from Pevensey castle to Herstmonceux castle on the 1066 country walk but due to poor signage and 3 different maps supplied via local authorities we didn’t.
I mean it should be easy right, all you need to do is put on the relevant website an interactive map with photos at strategic places where people might go astray. No, not in the UK, not when the local authorities are involved.🙄
No local signage in Pevensey either and this is where the walk I’d supposed to start? One map tells you to cross the busy roundabout, the other which seems to have drawn by a six year old tells you to walk across people’s gardens or maybe knock on the doors. The other tells you to go in the other direction the other side of the castle?
Imagine being a foreign tourist trying to find this walk, it’s embarrassing.
We asked in the castle and the smugglers Inn, we asked people under the 1066 sign at the castle gates and in the street but nobody knew anything about the 1066 walk? Is it real or is it just another idea to bring people into the area so the local authorities can charge them for parking? We followed one of the local guide maps for the 1066 and it was totally unreliable with times of being downright dangerous.
There’s a responsibility to walkers that East Sussex council needs to learn in that when you put poor information out for walks and trails it can get people killed.
Do not follow these maps or instructions especially if you have children, We have travelled the world and seen these things done properly, but here it’s a shambles.

我们询问了城堡里的人以及“走私者客栈”的工作人员。我们在城堡大门处以及街上询问了那些戴着1066标志的人，但没人知道有关“1066徒步路线”的任何信息。这条路线真的存在吗？还是说这只是当地政府为了吸引游客、从而向他们收取停车费而想出的又一个主意呢？我们按照当地导游手册上的指引尝试走了这条1066徒步路线，结果发现这些信息完全不可靠，甚至有些路段极其危险。东萨塞克斯郡议会有责任意识到：如果发布的徒步路线信息不准确，就可能导致人们丧命。
切勿按照这些地图或指示行走，尤其是带孩子的家庭更应注意。我们走遍世界，见过许多地方都能妥善管理徒步路线，但这里的情况却一团糟。
