Killing time before flight home - A Perfect Last‑Day Surprise at Manhattan Beach

点评：We visited Manhattan Beach to fill a few hours before flying home to Australia, and it ended up being one of the best surprises of our trip. The whole area has that effortless California coastal vibe — relaxed, friendly, and full of life.
While I would not usually choose a beach over an adventure today, we opted to tick the beach box.
The beachfront paths are beautiful, lined with incredible homes and perfect for an easy stroll. There were plenty of beach sports happening, families enjoying the sunshine, and a great atmosphere all around. You can also walk out along the pier for classic California views.
A huge highlight was discovering the coastal bike trail that runs through Manhattan Beach and connects to nearby beach towns. We didn’t have time to hire bikes this visit, but we both agreed we’ll be back to ride the whole stretch next time.
We also took a short drive to Fisherman’s Village, which added a fun, colourful waterfront stop to the day. And just down the coast, Redondo Beach offered great food and shopping — including The Cheesecake Factory right on the water, which was such a lovely spot to relax.
What started as a simple pre-flight time filler turned into a place we now can’t wait to return to. We’d definitely come back and stay for a few days to explore more, hire bikes, and enjoy the coastline properly.
