Restful and restorative four night stay
Montague Island的点评
点评：Our stay on Barunguba/Montague Island was wonderful. We were a group of six staying in the Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage which sleeps 10 so we had plenty of room. The house is very comfortable, our bed especially so and the kitchen is well-equipped with everything we needed. You have to bring all your food and drink for a stay on the island and we were told to pack a few days worth of extras in case we got stuck here, which can happen if the seas are rough.
My favourite part of our stay here was being surrounded by nature - we saw penguins!, as well as lots of seals and a variety of birds. Being able to watch the sun rise and set each day from almost the same spot each day was pretty special too.
One thing that some people might be put off by are the gulls and terns that nest in their thousands at this time of year. It makes things very noisy and smelly but it's also very entertaining to watch the food fights and flying lessons.
Baranguba Montague Island is first and foremost a nature reserve and this is made clear to you when you stay here. This comes with restrictions which for the most part are no big deal.
National Parks staff stay in a separate cottage on the island and escort visitors to the island on daily tours. They are very friendly and knowledgeable and always there to offer help when needed but are otherwise unobtrusive.
Our stay included a took a tour of the island and a walk up to the lighthouse balcony and 360 degree views of the island. We also opted for a snorkel with the seals organised separately with Narooma Charters and highly recommended.
