点评:Spring is a great time to journey through the moors and experience everything coming back to life. The rejuvenation seems to be late this year but there are many small flashes of colourful new life. Many areas are quite boggy at the moment, following the wet winter. With any luck, this may prevent a repetition of last year's fires, depending on how the rest of the year pans out. There are many signs of work to be done along the track, particularly new fencing. This work is normally carried out over the winter closure. I don't know if the weather conditions have been the cause of the delays but work needs to be done soon, before someone steals the stuff; like the lead off the roof.
The journey was nice and smooth and the food was, on the whole, good. The vegetables were on the nutty to raw side, apart from the carrots. They would have faired better if the chef had made use of the steam heating to cook them. By contrast, the beef was delicious. The journey was much less protracted than the Christmas one; with far less sitting around, which made it more enjoyable. Many thanks to Elaine and Emily, who did a superb job with the lunch and drinks service.
