Still a great place to snorkel. Just don't expect it to be like 30 years ago.

点评：Hanauma Bay is still a great place to snorkel. I have been there at least 3 or 4 times, separated by more than 40 years. Yes, the coral has been greatly damaged and the fish aren't as prevalent, but it is still a great place to go for snorkeling and some of the best in Oahu, maybe Hawaii. There are lots of people that say it's terrible, but having been to there and Maui, I can say there are more types of fish in Hanauma Bay than we found in Maui. I enjoyed Maui better because the water was clearer and the coral was more alive, and we saw turtles and spotted eagle rays (at black rock). But there were more types of fish in Hanauma Bay. I’ve cataloged all the fish we saw and will include them in this review. The worst thing about Hanauma Bay is the reservation system. It’s terrible and stressful. If I had to do it again, I’d just get the shuttle that they offer and pay the extra cost. We needed to get 8 tickets but they only allow 5 at a time. So we logged in at EXACTLY 7AM and got the 5, but then when we tried to go back in at 7:02AM that time was all full and we had to get 1 at a time 10 minutes before and 2 at a time 20 minutes after. Luckily they let us all in at the start of the first time when we actually went. BTW, this was for February 13, 2026, so not a weekend. And the times we ended up with were 7:20, 7:30 and 7:50. The tickets were basically sold out by 7:04 that morning ( 2 days before). Be ready to prove you have a reservation at the time of parking and in the reservation line, they are very strict about their reservations, another reason to just use the shuttle service.
