点评:Forming part of the ten museums operated by the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust this recreated town sits on what was an old industrial site. The year is 1900ish and you are taken back in time to three districts, a town area with Victorian era shops such as a bank, bakery, bicycle shop and post office, Pub and Chippy. An industrial district that provided various employment from a blast furnace and wrought iron works and a countryside district with buildings such as a squatter's cottage and tin roof church, school etc. Clearly, in February not everything is up and running as in peak season but there was enough there to entertain minus the heavy crowds of course. The vernicular was closed unfortunately and a lot of the mechanical stuff was not running. A word of advice about the photography, always ask first if you want to take someones photo; despite being dressed in character and being part of the experience some of them actually object to this. This is something that I have not seen before in similar experiences and I must admit I was a little taken back by it. And then there is the parking; make sure you read and follow the instructions on payment as you do not want to recieve any nasty reminders down the line. Still with that said make sure that you visit the chippy and have a nice drink of cider in the pub and a good old singalong!
