Woolacombe - England's Only World Surfing Reserve
拉科姆沙滩的点评
点评：Woolacombe is a very striking , long, long sandy beach with decent surf.
If you want a day at the beach, it’s hard to beat. If like us, you are more interested in seeing the rugged and very scenic Devon coastline, then the beach itself is only a quick stop. Nearby Grunta, Barricane and Coombesgate beaches offer more dramatic scenery.
The town of Woolacombe is modern so it doesn’t have the charm of other places. Instead it has a number of cafes and take-away food outlets, a pub, and a small pirate themed mini-golf park for kids. None of these were not of much interest to us but all of which will suit local families who are here for a beachside holiday.
We went for a long walk along the beach and watched a small group of surfers brave the temperatures to run into the water, boards tucked under their arms. Interestingly, Woolacombe is a recognised World Surfing Reserve (the only one in the UK).
We stopped for an ice-cream at Enrico’s beachfront kiosk and we took photos of the pretty row of beach huts painted in cheerful colours and running along the top of the dunes.
NOTE: Car parking at the beach is outrageously priced - £14 for the day with no option to stay for a short time. We circled back to the roadside parking and were lucky to find a spot which was much cheaper. However be warned, the parking inspectors are vigilant and vicious so make sure not to outstay your time. To be on the safe side, we put a little more money in the meter than we thought we’d need.

注意：海滩停车费贵得离谱——一天要14英镑，而且不能短停。我们只好绕回路边停车场，幸运地找到了一个便宜得多的车位。不过要提醒大家，停车管理员非常严格，所以千万不要超时停车。为了保险起见，我们往停车计时器里多投了一些钱。
