Fabulous Food Tour of Kalamata

点评：The Food trip evening around the old town of Kalamata was the highlight of my holiday.
A wonderful evening exploring local independent food shops and restaurants where the charismatic owners were very proud to share their passion for food and drink.
We tried so many things, from freshly roasted coffee to speciality hams and sausages, but special mention should go to Lambros from Cantharella, who is passionate about mushrooms and cooked the most delicious dishes and to Stavroula from Gefseis Manis Gis - she is such a vibrant, entertaining lady and we had such fun trying her speciality wedding biscuits called diples. When we had tried all these delicious things, we all sat down together for a lovely Greek meal with lots of wine and laughter. (Oh, and a fabulous dessert)
Special mention must go to Yiota, our wonderful, thoughtful local guide - she brought the trip alive and had such a good (entertaining) relationship with all the owners - a truly unforgettable evening, I enjoyed every minute of it and plan to do it again next year!!
