点评：We’ve just got back from a visit to the gardens. The staff on the ticket desk were slow but as it’s out of season, there wasn’t too much of a queue. We rented a mobility scooter for one of our party for £10 and had a thorough explanation of the controls. What wasn’t explained to us was the ‘safe route’ which is on a the map but we weren’t given a map. Luckily there were ones to just pick up as you walked in. For a very small amount more on your entrance fee, you can book for the poison garden entry which I highly recommend. Barbara was our guide and she was brilliant. Full of facts and interesting stories but fun too. Special shout out to her!
The cascade is stunning, the cherry blossom bit was fab with lots of swinging chairs. The serpent garden is great with all the water features, my favourite being the one that looks like a giant bowl with 2 holes in. It takes a while to refill but worth the wait to see the whole cycle. The cafe was ok, we only had coffee and cake so can’t really say what the hot food was like and the gift shop extensive - they do sell JellyCats so bring your credit card.
Well worth the entrance fee. You could easily spend a full day there and if you brought a picnic, it wouldn’t necessarily be too expensive.
